"Kiot with sculptures depicting a Buddhist deity Green Tara"
Tibet, XIX c .; Silver, terracotta; 17,3x17,3 cm.
A small portable shrine made of silver contains a tiny terracotta statuette of the popular Buddhist deity Green Tara, whose image is a symbol of compassion and care for all living beings.
These thumbnail images of deities were made in monasteries of clay mixed with ashes from the cremation of the saints, and are an integral part of Buddhist sculpture.
Silver kiot masterfully is made in the technique of embossing and is decorated on the front side with the reliefs "eight good emblems" (lotus, steam fish, umbrella, precious vessel, right-sink, endless knot, standard - a symbol of victory, wheel - teachings).
The image has a significant historical and cultural value.
