A famous Austrian painter and graphic artist of the Italian origin. Bright representative of Viennese landscape school. Son and disciple of the artist D. Rieger. Since 1838 he lived and worked in Vienna. He regularly participated in Parisian salons. Two landscapes painted by A. Rieger were acquired for the collection of Prince Rudolph of Habsburg. Honorary Member of Vienna Academy of Arts. He was awarded the Austrian Gold and the Swedish-Norwegian Grand Gold Medals. He became famous as a master of the seascape. The works are presented in numerous Art Museums of Europe and Russia.
