Levchenko Petro Olexiyovych
(1856 – 1917)

A Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. He received his elementary art education under the guidance of B. Bezperchyy. From 1878 till 1883 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Since 1886 he exhibited his paintings in traveling exhibitions. He was a member of the Society of southern Russian artists. Since 1886 he taught at Kharkiv drawing school of M. Rayewska. He painted mostly landscapes, recreating Ukrainian poetic images of nature. His works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the Art Museums of Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Sumy, etc.
