Ippolito Scarcella
(1551 – 1620)

A famous Italian painter, a brilliant representative of Ferrara school of painting. Born in Ferrara, Italy. Son and student of Sigismondo Scarsella, felt the influence of Paolo Veronese and Jacopo Bassano, and also of Bologna artists. He worked in Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Venice. He created paintings on religious themes, also known as a miniaturist, graphic artist and printmaker. His works are kept in the State Hermitage in St. Petersburg, pinacotheca in Bologna, in the gallery in Bergamo, in the National Museum in London, the Art Museums in Budapest, Darmstadt, Erfurt, Hanover, etc.
